So you think soccer is boring, then you’re looking at it wrong.
One of the most common complaints people have for soccer is that it’s boring. While there really are boring games. However, if you put a little investment in the team (ehem, bets), and you understand the game more, you will find soccer more exciting.
The first step is to pick a team. You have to put some skin in the game. If you were born in a certain country you can find a reason to support a team. Like a same-nationality player, or, your hometown team.
The second step is to retrain your eyes. Most people would just follow the ball, however, most of the actions are happening where the ball isn’t. Most players would find openings to get the ball and make the goal. You have to know how to watch for off the ball movement.
The third step is to identify the most common playing formations. You have to know which ones are the defenders, mid-fielders, and forwards. The most common formations are 4-4-2, 4-4-3-3, and 4-2-3-1. If you’re watching on TV, the commentators will usually point this out.
